From The Principal
Our Centenary Week was a truly remarkable celebration of St Anne’s rich history and vibrant present. The festivities began on Monday with a beautiful prayer service led by our Year 4 students, setting a reflective and joyful tone for the days ahead. On Thursday, we gathered for a special Mass, joined by guests who travelled from near and far to be part of this milestone. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Ms Moloney, for planning and coordinating our Centenary Mass, it was beautiful and symbolic.
Following Mass, a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony brought together our oldest alumni and youngest students, a touching moment that beautifully bridged generations. Thank you to Mrs Shannon Campbell for coordinating the morning tea, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all after Mass. We also extend our gratitude to the many helping hands behind the scenes who made the day run so smoothly.
Friday evening’s Centenary Dinner was a highlight, filled with laughter, reconnection, and new friendships. It was wonderful to welcome former staff, students, families, and members of our leadership team, alongside many current families and staff who joined in the celebration.
Of special significance were the speeches delivered by Mr Michael McCusker, Sr Joanne Molloy, and Sr Denise Hinton. Each shared profound insights into the journey of St Anne’s—from its humble beginnings in 1925 to the thriving, faith-filled learning community it is today.
Early settlers knew the hardships of starting a community and took great care that the original Sisters of Mercy were well looked after. Members of the Forrest family, who joined us for the course of the week and are descended from Ann Catherine Hoey were amongst our oldest surviving past St Anne’s students. It was an honour and privilege meeting them.
Specials thanks too Mrs Julie Dunn for continuing to paint a mural which will outline Catherine McAuley’s vision of the Sisters of Mercy in Sarina. More news as this unfolds further.
Thanks too to all those who worked behind the scenes and have been not named, we appreciate all that you have done from the gardens to the working bee to carting furniture and coordinating tasks – thank you so very much.
We were honoured to welcome the following guests throughout Centenary Week:
- Most Reverend Michael McCarthy, Bishop of Rockhampton
- Fr Matthias and Fr Sijo, Priests of the Mackay Southside Cluster
- Fr Peter Tonti, former Principal of St Anne’s
- Sr Denise Hinton and Sr Joanne Molloy, Sisters of Mercy and past staff members
- Sr Marise Casey and Sr Kerry-Ann Sullivan, Sisters of Mercy
- Mr Michael McCusker, Director of Catholic Education
- Mr David Paul, Assistant Director: Schools
- Mayor Greg Williamson
- Deputy Mayor Karen May
We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors, whose support made our celebrations possible:
- Gold Sponsor: Dalrymple Coal Bay Terminal – your generosity went above and beyond.
- Silver Sponsors: Coastal Accounting Service, Tedman Construction, Ray White Rural Sarina, ESPRIT Construction, Core Concepts Chiropractic
- Bronze Sponsors: Core Essentials, Michelle Landry
On Sunday, we welcomed the community back to campus for our Open Day. The historical display, curated by Rosemary Pietzner, was a standout feature, guiding visitors through a visual journey from 1925 to 2025. It was heartwarming to see students, families, and guests engage so deeply with our story.
Finally, an enormous thank you to our Centenary Committee: Ro Pietzner, Bridget Fenech, Shona Gibson, Shaylee Sorell, Stacy Bennett, Andrea Keating, Emma Anderson, and Shannon Campbell. Your dedication, creativity, and spirit helped us honour our past and celebrate our present with grace and joy.
Here’s to the next chapter in the St Anne’s story—rooted in faith, community, and lifelong learning.
Thank you all for your support of St Anne’s, we are eternally grateful for the partnership you have forged with us.

- How did you do?
- What did you do if you didn’t understand?
- How can you improve on your learning?
- What are you most proud of?

Religious Life of the School
From the Assistant Principal: Religious Education
Ms Georgia Moloney
A Wonderful Centenary Celebration
Last week, our school community came together for a truly memorable Centenary Celebration. The day began with a beautiful Mass, and I am so proud to share how well behaved and reverent our students were throughout the liturgy. It was heart warming to see so many families join us in this special celebration of faith and gratitude.
Following the Mass, the children participated in a range of fun activities that brought smiles and laughter to all. From games to creative workshops, the joy and enthusiasm of our students were contagious. It was a day that truly reflected the spirit of our school community, rooted in faith, togetherness, and joy.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success, and to all the families who came along to celebrate this milestone with us.
Celebrating Our Sacramental Candidates
On Sunday, we witnessed a profound and sacred moment in the lives of four of our students who completed their sacramental journey. These candidates received their First Holy Communion and Confirmation during a beautiful Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael and Father Matthias.
We are especially proud of Paige Gibson and Hadley Walsh, who represented our school with such grace and devotion. This is a significant step in their faith journey, and we pray that God continues to bless and guide them.
Congratulations to all the candidates and their families on this special achievement. Moments like these remind us of the importance of our Catholic faith in shaping the lives of our students and our community.
Invitation to Assist with St Anne's Led Mass
This Sunday, 24th August, St Anne's will have the privilege of leading the 9am Mass at St Michael's Church. This is a beautiful opportunity for our school community to come together in faith and contribute to the celebration of the Eucharist.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with various roles during the Mass, including reading and presenting the offertory gifts. If you or your child are able to assist, please contact Georgia Moloney at georgia_moloney@rok.catholic.edu.au.
Your participation will help make this a meaningful and prayerful celebration for all. We encourage families to join us as we come together to share in the joy of our faith and strengthen the connection between our school and parish community.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Finance News
Important Information regarding how School fee payments show on the Parent Orbit App | With the introduction of the new Parent Orbit App, parents are now able to easily see where they are up to with their school fee payments. However, an important thing to note is that any payments that have been made in the past 2 weeks may not show in the App, as they need to be processed to your account after the payment is received and this is done in bulk every week or two. If it is longer than 2 weeks since you have made a payment and it is still not showing on the Orbit App, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams, for it to be looked into. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
Term 3 Fees | Term 3 fees are now overdue. If you have not paid in full, and do not have a payment plan in place, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams, to discuss options.

Newsletter Report Week 5 By Addison | This week I have noticed that we have not been putting up our hands, and continuing to speak after the bell rings. The teacher on duty should not have to start the timer or blow the whistle for us to be quiet.
I would like to thank our tuckshop lady and all the parents that have been helping with the tuckshop since tuckshop was reopened. I think we have all enjoyed having our tuckshop back and we appreciate your hard work.
Make sure you listen and respect your teachers at all times and always remember to try your hardest in class.
