From The Principal
Our kids are an important asset and they live and learn from our life experiences as well as their own. However for the greater part of their journey I believe they rest upon the shoulders of their parents and significant others. We sincerely thank you for trusting us to work hand in hand with you towards building a better future for your child.
In order to be HOPEFUL, children need to experience trust and security in people.
In order to be LOVING , children need to experience that they are loveable
In order to be PEACEFUL, children need to experience gentleness, co-operation and understanding
In order to be FORGIVING, children need to experience forgiveness.
I would be interested to know your thoughts with particular reference to other traits that you are nurturing within your child. Parenting is a hard job that no-one ever quite prepares you for. Sometimes the going gets tough, really really tough but as parents take comfort in the fact that you are doing your best for your child. You all deserve a pat on the back!
Lord, we ask that you guide our parents and allow them peace of mind through parenting at different stages of thier children's lives. Heavenly Father, we also ask for each parent to be granted peace of mind as they make decisions which are long lasting. Grant them a sense of ease as they become familiar with their child's needs, wants and desires. This we ask in Your name, Amen.
Peace & Blessings

RIP FR PAT | It was with sadness that we were recently advised of the death of Fr Pat Mooney. Fr Pat had been experiencing ill health of recent times but had continued to assist in the Mackay Parishes during his retirement and where he was able. Fr Pat celebrated 50 years of priesthood just last year and during those years he ministered in parishes in Mackay, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Blackall and Mt Morgan. We thank God for Fr Pat and his generous service to the people of our Diocese and pray for him as he now returns home to his God. We also pray for his family and brother priests at this time.
Funeral arrangements have now been advised with the following:
Vigil - Sunday 20 August at 4.00pm - St Francis Xavier Catholic Church
Funeral - Monday 21 August at 12.00pm - St Francis Xavier Catholic Church

THANK YOU | Special thanks goes to Mrs Grech, our amazing Arts teacher, for putting up our school show display at the Annual Sarina Show. Those who attended have reported that our school exhibition looked great as did all the entries our students entered in the Visual Arts section.

Sarina Erudite Initiative - new intake now open
Sarina State High School are pleased to once again be running the Sarina Erudite Initiative in 2023/2024 for your current year 5 cohort after a record-breaking number of applications last year.
For those who are not aware, The Sarina Erudite Initiative (SEI) is an enrichment program aiming to expose primary school students to the secondary curriculum and extend students above and beyond the primary curriculum, thus allowing them to develop further interests and skills and enrich their lives.
Sarina Erudite Initiate Programs will be linked to the areas of Humanities, STEM, Digital Technologies and Health and Physical Education, with a strong link to both literacy and numeracy. The SEI Programs will also align to ACARA General Capabilities and Achievement Standards.
Interested students are required to apply for the program and there are a limited number of places available. Students must submit their latest report card (semester 1), their attendance details for both 2022 and 2023, a short response to a posed question and have both parent/carer and Principal endorsement.
Students are then ranked using a criteria and successful students notified of their acceptance into Sarina Erudite Initiative.
Students will attend 4 sessions over 4 fortnights from 8.45 am with the expectation they are collected by parents by 11.30 am and return to their primary school. Please see the dates below:
- Week 2 - Wednesday 11th October, 2023
- Week 4 - Wednesday 25th October, 2023
- Week 6 - Wednesday 8th November, 2023
- Week 8 - Wednesday 22nd November, 2023
For those students who are interested, we will deliver application forms to your school in the coming days and these can also be located on our School Website.
If you have any questions regarding this program, please do not hesitate to contact us.
