Report Cards are upon us once again! At this time, it is opportune to reflect on how children are going and just how you can get that little bit more from them. I happened across an article entitled, “Helping Your Child at School” that came from a book called ‘A Parent Survival Kit.’ The tips that it provides are effective ones in getting the most out of your child and school.
Be Informed Listen to your child. Read notices and newsletters and stay in touch via Class Dojo; if possible, attend meetings.
Be Positive Your negative and sour attitude will not help your child succeed at school.
Be Co-operative Ask the teacher how you can help at school and how you can help your child.
Be Assertive Speak up for yourself and your child. Express your own feelings and ideas directly, but not in an angry, aggressive way.
Don’t be a Gossip If there’s a problem don’t talk to everyone about it. See the right person, the classroom teacher.
Be Friendly With your child write letters of thanks and appreciation. All teachers and principals need encouragement.
Children only get one go at being a child and in receiving an education. It is therefore up to each one of us (parents and teachers alike) to make sure that it will be the best education we can provide. It is this partnership between home and school that will ensure that we will achieve our hopes and dreams for these children, and help them achieve their own hopes and dreams.
I urge you to discuss with your child their Report Card when it comes home in the coming weeks, looking at the areas they did well in and the areas that they can put a little more effort in next term. There is always room for improvement but there is also a real need to give praise and recognition when and where it is due!

GARDEN PARTY | Many thanks to the organising committee of this year's Garden Party. Many, many weeks and hours of hard work goes into an event such as this, months before the event's date. On Friday evening, people were setting up, planning, re-planning, setting up food boxes, ensuring people's dietary needs were catered for (Do you know how many cheese wheels were cut?), many hundreds of kilometers were travelled running backwards and forwards to the venue, then there was the clean up. Today, as I bumped into many members of the organising committee, most indicated that they were tired yet elated. When you see these, ladies please thank them. An event such as this does not just happen, it is carefully planned and orchestrated.
To each of you, thank you, your dedication helped us reach our goals. I deeply appreciate every member of this team for showing relentless effort for the Garden Party. You give me great pride to be the leader of this school. Your hard work continues to inspire me, thank you.

CONGRATULATIONS | Congratulations to Mrs Shannon Campbell, Mrs Debra Cameron and Mrs Donna Brebner for their nominations for the 2023 Spirit of Catholic Education awards. These nominations are very well deserved and pay homage to these women and the work they undertake in support of our students. On behalf of our entire school community we congratulate them and thank them for all they do for our school and for Catholic Education. As well we are pleased to announce that Mrs Mary Ahern from our parish has been nominated as well. Mary is a hard worker in our parish and nothing she undertakes is ever too much trouble. Congratulations Mary on your special nomination.

PREP ENROLMENTS | Enrolments for Prep are currently being taken for the 2024 school year. If you have a child due to commence Prep next year born between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019, please complete an online enrolment form, available on our school website -
https://www.sasrok.catholic.edu.au/
It is important that this is done promptly so that the number of available positions for new families can be determined.
If you know of anybody seeking enrolment in Prep for 2024, please encourage them to head to our website for further information. If you have any queries or concerns regarding this process, please contact the office.
ALL ENROLMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE: Once enrolment applications have been received and processed by our Administration staff, you will be notified of an interview time during Term 2 or early Term 3.

Across The Curriculum
Our Own School Based Reading Competition!
Recently, a competition between McAuley and Coolock was ignited, and it's not sporting related- it's reading related! A challenge has been set between the two sporting houses to see who can read the most books before the end of the term. Each student has been given a reading record sheet, to record anything that has been read by themselves or the classroom teacher for each day- this can be any print from online and audio books, magazines, instruction manuals, library books....anything! The winners will be announced during Week 10 for an awesome prize. Stay tuned!

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK - BE A VOICE FOR GENERATIONS
The Tchundal Malar dancers performed excellently at our National Reconciliation Week Liturgy on Friday. After this performance, our Indigenous students reverently led the school in liturgy to mark this occasion of reconciliation, justice and healing.

CATHOLIC MISSIONS
Greg Clair from Catholic Missions visited St. Anne's on Monday to present us with a certificate of appreciation for the funds raised from Socktober and the Catholic Mission fair last year. $1539.25 was raised to help ensure that young children in Ethiopia can access nutritious food, beat malnutrition, and grow strong and healthy. The 'Works of Mercy' certainly shine brightly here at St. Anne's.
