T1 W3 Newsletter 2023
From The Principal
A child who entered Prep this year will complete their Tertiary Education in about the year 2038.
- What will the year 2038 be like? If we look at the many changes in all areas of life over the past fifteen years, one would expect the next fifteen to change at a similar rate.
- What skills, knowledge, and capabilities will an individual need to thrive in the year 2038
Fortunately Catholic Education believes in building the necessary values to allow our students to develop a passion for learning that will enable them to embrace this future with confidence.
Our school encourages family to support the education of their children. Together the wisdom of our two parent bodies (School Board and P&F) ensures that the education we provide enables our students to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Wrapped up in this philosophy of education are the fundamental characteristics of our Catholic School and it is appropriate that we, as a community of believers retell our story, to proclaim our history and to build a path towards the future.
It is evident that the school community of St Anne's is proud of their school and that they are confident that the learning programs we offer are both effective and that it contributes to the holistic development of our students.
What is it about our school community that you are proud of?

Across The Curriculum
NAPLAN 2023- Now In Term 1!
Towards the end of 2022, it was announced that the NAPLAN testing window was moving to Term 1, 2023. This means that schools will receive the data collected from our cohorts earlier, giving us more opportunities to fine tune our practices and to meet the needs of our students.
OUr Year 3 and Year 5 students will have an opportunity to sit a practice test on Thursday, 15th February. This practice familiarises the students with the processes of the online testing, and to help in reducing any anxiety that our students may feel.
We are now a NAPLAN Online school, and as a result of this, the official testing window is over a two-week period. For this reason, NAPLAN testing dates are Wednesday 15 March to Monday 27 March 2023. Our official testing days will be advertised as soon as they are finalised.
While participation by all Saint Anne’s students in Year 3 and Year 5 is expected, there are some instances where students may be withdrawn from one or more of the NAPLAN tests. This is a matter for consideration by individual parents and carers.
Should you wish to withdraw your child from the NAPLAN testing process, the principal, prior to the testing period, must receive a formal application. If you are intending to withdraw your child from the NAPLAN testing process, please request a ‘Record of Parent Withdrawal’ form from our office staff and return to Mr John Ballinger-Oches by Friday,11th February 2023.
This withdrawal form covers both the NAPLAN practice test and online testing in March.
If you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Library Volunteers Needed! Coffee and cake provided!
Monday, 13th February
Towards the end of last year, an audit was conducted on our reading books, with old and broken books being removed from our library, and so a new range of home readers and guided reading sets were purchased.
We would really appreciate some help with covering these with contact, as there are quite a few! If you have some time to spare on Monday 13th February, from 9-10.30am, even if just for a little while, we would love to meet you in our library. Coffee and cake will be provided. Signing in at the front office will be required.
It might even be possible to take some home to cover, if this is preferred.
Please RSVP to linda_holmes@rok.catholic.edu.au or if you are able to help out in any way.
Have a great week!
