Rest in your Love
Rest is so important, so sacred that it is one of the first practices God recommends to us. The capacity to rest and to enjoy life go closely together and they are linked with the ability to worship God. To sleep, to snooze, to stop and enjoy watching the kids play, just to watch the world go by, these are all important ways of becoming happy.
Strangely enough, part of our ability to rest comes with the ability to appreciate our work. No matter how humble our work is, it is only demeaning if we take the attitude that it is. Even if we don’t like our work, that doesn’t mean that we can’t try to do a good job and then appreciate that. When we have done that then we can truly stop and rest. My grandfather’s last job was as a cleaner but he took great pride in his work and was one of the most contented people I knew - and that contentment made him a very attractive person. At his funeral there were so many friends of all ages who said he was so good to them. His goodness consisted in the ability to stop and be, to rest with people and show interest in them.
Heavenly Father, Jesus called us to rest in his love just as he rested in your Love. Send us your Spirit so that we may let go of the cares that distress our hearts and minds. May we share your peace and love with each other. We ask this in Jesus’ name confident that you will hear us.

GRATITUDE JOURNAL | Gratitude is one of the most important virtues we can have in our lives and is an important part of building happiness. Gratitude can be defined as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness”. It is easy in life at times to focus on our problems rather than to be thankful for all the wonderful blessings we have been given.
Our School is very grateful to …
The many parents who took time out of their busy mornings to come and watch the year 2 students present how they undertake meditation and to listen to the Year 5 Leadership speeches. Your attendance at occasions such as these help the students to feel that their contributions are worthwhile when they see you here at school.
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
LEADERSHIP SPEECHES | Friday morning our year 5 students presented their leadership speeches to the staff and students from years 3-6. They all spoke extremely well and showed us all what a wonderful group of leaders we will have for 2023. Although not all the students will achieve a captain’s position for 2023, they should all be very proud of themselves and the way they spoke this morning.
FAMILIES LEAVING | As our total enrolment drives many aspects of our school (staffing, budget, class sizes and structure) it is important that we try to be as accurate as possible in predicting the school enrolment for 2023. If you know that you will be leaving at the end of the year, could you please notify the office as soon as possible? Your assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.
SIGNING CHILDREN IN LATE | A reminder please that if students are arriving to school late (after 8.35am) then they must be signed in at the office by a parent. There are a number of children coming into the office to sign themselves in which is not acceptable.
REMEMBRANCE DAY LITURGY | Thank you to the Year 5 students who led our Remembrance Day Liturgy last Friday. Our school community joined together in prayer to remember all who have served our nation in various conflicts and those currently deployed overseas. Thank you also to Mrs Walsh for your part in ensuring the liturgy was very reverent. Special thanks too to Mrs Campbell for ensuring the prayer space was just right. Many thanks to those of you who were able to join us on the day.
TICK EDUCATION | Ticks seem to be on the move at the moment. If you find a tick on your child, please don’t panic. I provide this link as a source of education for you: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/tick-bites

PRIMROSE SANDS

CONGRATULATIONS PRIMROSE | Primrose Sands, a former St Anne’s student, has her eyes firmly set on the horizon, further study. Nearing the end of year 12, Primrose, at a recent awards ceremony, took out the following subject awards and an award for academic excellence. This is not surprising considering she was always heavily invested in her learning.

- Japanese
- Literature
- Modern History
- Study of Religion
- English and Literature Extension
- Christian Brothers Award for Academic Excellence
Next year Primrose plans to study International Relations and Languages at ANU, Canberra and hopes to gain future employment with the Department of Foreign Affairs.

We are all so very proud of Primrose and wish her all the best in her future endeavours. Please stay in touch Primrose.

DONATION OF SUPPLIES
As the end of the school year draws to a close, we thought it would be timely to take a few things off your hands before the holidays. Any donations of calculators or Year 6 Bibles would be greatly appreciated as we endeavor to build class sets of these resources. Please send a note to your classroom teacher if you wish to donate these items and we’ll send them to the Library, to be catalogued. Thanks so much for your support.
Year 6 L
During this learning cycle, Year 6 has been learning about plotting in the four coordinates of a Cartesian Plane. To put our learning into practice, 6L went orienteering! With a map overlay, a legend full of symbols and a list of control points, students searched the school for 15 letters that would spell out the challenge word – CONGRATULATIONS!
Using mathematical skills, teamwork and effective communication, all teams managed to collect their letters in under 45 minutes.
Some words from the students:
- “It was fun!” Tate
- “It was a great way to work together with my peers and was really enjoyable.” Charlotte
- “We didn’t get to choose our teams but we worked it out together anyway.” Mitchell
- “It was a great way to show how maths can be used in real life.” Sienna
- “It was stressful at times but real, really fun!” Zoe
- “It was great to get out and about and learn at the same time.” Gus

The Good News
Sunday's Gospel Reflection

This week marks the final week of Ordinary Time in the Church’s liturgical calendar and draws us almost to the end of our journey through the gospel of Luke.
Next week’s reading of the crucifixion concludes the Year of Luke. It is in this context that we need to read today’s gospel passage.
Jesus and his disciples are gathered around the Temple in Jerusalem in the final days before he is to be put to death.
The end is imminent and Jesus takes the opportunity to reassure the disciples that, although they are about to experience a period of distress, betrayal and persecution that will stretch well into the future, ultimately, God’s love and mercy will triumph – not only in their own lives but also in the world.

A big thank you to our staff, students and parents for your support of our 2022 Mission Fair.
Your ongoing support of the Catholic missions allows us to raise vital funds that go to communities in need. It is through this kindness, compassion and generosity that we truly encounter Christ in our actions.
