From The Principal
For me, to live life without dreaming is to live life with no energy and no fire in the belly. For me, dreams are very important as they give me focus and direction - direction about the here and now as well as about the future.
The following was given to me and really touched me:
Find a comfortable chair,
Close your eyes, put your hands in your lap
and start learning how to dream again.
Dream for five minutes. Dream about the past.
Dream about what you've already been.
Repeat this for the next day and the next.
After some time you'll get the knack of dreaming again.
You'll begin to regain the long lost art of dreaming.
Then start dreaming forward.
Dream what has yet to be done.
Dream a direction for yourself.
A Recipe for Dreaming - Bryce Courtenay.
Do you dream? What do you spend your time dreaming about? To find some balance in your very hectic schedule make a time for dreaming - it is important! I would love to hear what you dream about.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND WELLBEING FOR LEARNING | One of our school priorities at St Anne's in 2022 has been to enhance and support student wellbeing. It is clearly evident from current research that learning will be improved if students' welfare, happiness and safety are catered for within a positive learning environment.
St Anne's has been selected to be part of a Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton Project aimed at implementing school wide practices that assist in enhancing positive learning environments within the school.
This brief survey is designed to gather feedback about current school practices and will provide a valuable starting point for this project, particularly assisting to identify priorities and goals for 2023.
The constructive, honest feedback of all parents is valued and appreciated. The survey will be open until 3pm Thursday 20 October (Week 3).
Our goal is for 100% participation of those who look after our students. To participate in this survey please hit the following link:

SPECIAL PROJECT | One of our school priorities at St Anne’s in 2022 has been to enhance and support student wellbeing. It is clearly evident from current research, that learning will be improved if students’ welfare, happiness and safety are catered for within a positive learning environment.
Over the next 18 months, St Anne’s will be part of a Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton Project aimed at implementing school-wide practices that assist in enhancing positive learning environments within the school.
I am pleased to welcome Mrs Bianca Morris to St Anne’s who will be facilitating the work associated with this project. Bianca is currently on leave from her role as Principal of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Mackay to work as a member of the Diocesan Behaviour Committee. This committee is undertaking research into what constitutes ‘best practice’ when creating positive learning environments.
We look forward to working closely with Bianca as we consolidate, review and improve current practices and ensure our school learning environments are the best they can be for our students and staff.
I am sure that you join with me in extending a warm St Anne’s welcome to Bianca as she joins our school community.
New Families Joining The St Anne's Community | It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Hammond and Fitzpatrick families, who joined our St Anne's community at the start of Term 4. We would like to welcome Xochitl (Yr1), Corey (Yr5) & Luke (Yr6) and thier families to St Anne's and hope you settle into our community.

The Good News

The Gospel of Luke tells how Jesus, continuing on the journey to Jerusalem, encounters ten lepers.
They ask for pity and are bewildered when Jesus sends them to the priests. They are not cured in the presence of Jesus, but on the journey. When one of them realises what has happened, he cannot contain himself. He tells everyone what has happened and rushes back to Jesus to say thank you. No one knows what happened to the other nine, but Jesus notices that they are missing. Jesus also notes that the one who returned was a Samaritan, a foreigner. Once again, Jesus ties the need for physical healing to the need for spiritual healing: ‘Your faith has been your salvation.’
Jesus calls the lepers out of their shame and isolation and returns them to the community. Jesus gives faces to the lepers; they become real people.
The same happens when Jesus rescues us from our sins.
2022 St Anne's Mission Fair
Friday 28th October - 12:00 to 1:20
Held in October each year, St Anne's Catholic Primary School runs a mission fair in support of Catholic Mission Australia and their outreach to communities in need.
Our Prep to Year 6 classes will be running stalls on the day. Donations of prizes and other materials to support the mission fair would be greatly appreciated, classroom teachers will contact their class parents about this.
More information will be provided in the coming days about the Mission Fair.
Works of Mercy @ St Anne's

The Holy Rosary - the month of October
by Genevieve Perkins, Franciscan University of Steubenville
Did you know that each month has a traditional Catholic devotion?
This year, let’s focus on each devotion month-by-month to grow in our faith and traditions! Make yourself notes, write it on your calendar, and pray a specific prayer each day of the month to remember. You could use a prayer already associated with the devotion or pray a personal one.
October is another month dedicated to Mary! Why so much concentration on Mother Mary? Because looking at Mary is seeing God in her. It’s like when you see a very kind and holy person, but you realise you aren’t looking at them so much as experiencing God’s love for you through them.
That’s Mary! Her fiat, her purpose, and her love for us and our love for her is all about God. This month that love is focused on the Holy Rosary. Through the Holy Rosary, we meditate on God’s Word. The Gospel becomes embedded in our hearts, and Mary holds our hand to Jesus Christ.
