From The Principal
“Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind; steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time. Give me, amid the confusion of the day, the calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles with the soothing music of singing streams that live in my memory. Help me to know the magic of restoring sleep.
Teach me the art of taking minute vacations; of slowing down to look at a flower; to chat with a friend; to pat a dog; to read a few lines from the Scriptures.
Remind me each day of the fable of The Hare & The Tortoise so that I may know that the race is not always to the swift – that there is more to life than increasing its speed.
Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life’s enduring values that I may grow toward the stars of my greater destiny.”
How often do you take time to slow down and look at the flowers around you? Try to take a minute vacation each day this week and find where your God is talking to you!

Puppetry
The year 3 and 4 classes have been exploring all the different forms of puppetry in their drama unit. For their final assessment piece, students wrote their own scripts, made their own puppets and presented a shadow puppet play to their classmates.

The Good News
Sunday's Gospel Reflection

In the Gospel reading, Jesus tells three stories to the Pharisees – and to us – so that they – and we – might better understand God’s forgiveness. The first is a shortened version of the parable of the lost sheep. A shepherd with one hundred sheep loses one and searches and searches until it is found. So, too, God searches for the lost sheep and rejoices in the sinner who returns to the fold.
The second parable is about a woman who searches by lamplight for a lost coin. Though we may often feel insignificant – like a single lost coin – God, like the woman, celebrates when we are found.
The third story is the parable of the prodigal son. A son squanders the family wealth and lives a sinful life while the older brother toils away. When the wayward son comes to his senses, he returns home to the open arms of his dad. The prodigal asks for forgiveness and is forgiven. When the other son is stunned and appalled, the father invites him to the celebration and asks that all be forgiven.
All of the readings today ask us to recognise our sins, give them up, and return to God. There we will find forgiveness and joy. No matter where we go or how we are lost, we can always come home.

St Michael's Parish News

Gracious God,
You love and care for all of your children, especially the smallest and most vulnerable. We entrust to you the lives of children and adults at riskwho have been sexually abused, and whose trust and innocence have been destroyed.
Help us to hear their cries of painand to take responsibility for those whose lives have been broken.Help us to recognise the hurt felt by those wounded by abuse, and the failure to be heard.
We pray that with the help of your grace communities and families will find understanding and support, so that now and in the future their wounds may be healedand they may find lasting peace.
Let your grace and love fall gently now upon our children and adults at risk, giving them the inner strength, peace and resilience to seek out assistance when required.
We ask this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,who lives and reigns with youin the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
Amen
Student Leadership
Leadership is a quality that all students of St Anne's Catholic Primary School are encouraged and supported to develop. These experiences ensure that students perceive themselves as leaders and have the opportunity and confidence to take on leadership roles and find their voice.
