From The Principal
Children are indeed very precious– they are natural, resilient, far sighted, enthusiastic, loving, peaceful, forgiving, hopeful, joyful, want to experience life to the fullest, trusting…. They are the future of our nation! I love being a parent and a teacher. Children are the only reason that I am now an educator, and are the only reason I was ever interested in teaching. Sure it is a very, very difficult vocation and is becoming increasing more difficult as the years roll on. But I love being a teacher and I love learning from children – they have much to teach us grown-ups.
At the end of each day I try to snatch 10 minutes where I sit and ponder over the day and its happenings. I look for God in that day; I look to ensure that the Jesus in me did meet the Jesus in others. This is important for me as often I can get caught up in just living. Just as I believe we are what we eat, I also believe that children (and adults!) are what they live.
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn,
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight,
If children live with ridicule, they learn to be shy,
If children live with shame, they learn to fell guilty,
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence
If children live with praise, they learn to appreciate others
If children live with fairness, they learn justice,
If children live with security, they learn to have faith
If children live with acceptance and friendship
They learn to find love in the world.
“So Jesus called a child, had him stand in front of him and said, “Unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven. The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is the one who humbles and becomes like this child. And whoever welcomes in my name one such as this child, welcomes me!” (Matthew 18:2-5)
Indeed children are very precious! What have you learnt from a child lately? What have you taught a child through your actions? Being a parent is no easy task – but rejoice in knowing that you are doing your best and making a difference.

Dear Parents/carers and staff,
In partnership with Arup and Zwart Transport Planning, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is gathering insights from parents/carers and staff about bicycle and scooter parking at schools across Queensland. The Queensland Department of Education and Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton has granted permission for schools to be involved in the research.
If you would like to contribute your experiences and assist in improving bicycle/scooter parking at schools, we invite you to complete the following online survey by Friday, 24 June 2022.

COVID-19
VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE | St Anne’s Catholic Primary School wishes to advise you that, during the past week, we have been notified of positive cases of COVID-19 in our school community.
St Anne’s regularly consults with the Catholic Education Office and relevant authorities, and continues to follow the advice of Queensland Health regarding cleaning requirements.
As COVID-19 remains active in our community we ask you to continue to monitor your child’s/children’s health and if they develop any flu-like symptoms:
- Keep your child/children at home
- Seek a PCR or Rapid Antigen test where it is recommended and notify the school of positive results. Please be aware, a negative COVID test does not change the requirement to be symptom free to attend school.
- Follow the advice of Queensland Health
As we continue to navigate the pandemic, please remind your child/ren to:
- maintain good hand hygiene at all times
- cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of their elbow and dispose of tissues in the bin immediately.
- practice social distancing from others where possible
- wear masks when required
Please also inform us if any of our students contract COVID-19 as a result of being first placed in isolation.
We will continue to work closely with health authorities to keep our school community informed of any developments and advice. Thank you once again for your ongoing support.

Sunday's Gospel Reflection

Sunday's Gospel passage has Jesus saying to the disciples that there is still so much that he has to say to them, to teach them.
But the disciples are not ready to receive everything in the time that Jesus has remaining. So to continue the teaching of Jesus and to continue the expression of Love, the Father and the Son will send the Spirit.
It was the sending of the Spirit that we celebrated last week in the feast of Pentecost and it is the unity of Father, Son and Spirit that we celebrate this week in Trinity Sunday.
Every time we make the sign of the cross we reaffirm our belief in a God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although some people have difficulties with the gender-specific language of ‘Father’ and ‘Son’ and look for other ways to express this reality, all Christian people profess a belief in the one God who is experienced in three distinct ways.
We are baptised ‘in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit’ and we remind ourselves of this reality when we pray and when we bless ourselves or others.

YOU for 2032
Queensland Representative School Sport wish to advise you about the Queensland Academy of Sport’s state-wide talent identification opportunity that could potentially see students on a pathway to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane.
This program is called Youfor2032 and is designed to unearth the next generation of elite Queensland athletes who have the potential to win on the world stage, including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
There are up to 15 Olympic and 8 Paralympic sports looking to match their best coaches with Queensland’s best talent. It doesn’t matter if students have experience in any of these sports. Athletic ability coupled with a great attitude and supportive parents or guardians are the key ingredients needed to excel in this program.
Those successful in being selected for Youfor2032 will receive expert training, coaching and development support, from State and National Sporting Organisations as well as the QAS.
This could be the first step in an incredible journey for our students.
Visit the program website for more information:

If you come across any rubbish in our school, please ensure you pick it up and put it in the appropriate bins. The friendship benches promote positive interactions between students. They are there to help any student that may need some company. Always remember to be kind to each other and be respectful to everyone. Have a nice week.
