From The Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
As a school community we pray the following weekly, this is our school prayer. During a dedicated process, the whole school had the opportunity to give input. Every week we pray this prayer as a faith community and try to live out the values and challenges it presents.
Dear Lord,
Please help us to make our school a friendly place.
May we love and care about each other because we all belong to you.
Help us to smile back when people smile at us; to give help when people need it.
And most of all, help us to accept each other as we are.
Amen
This prayer is what we believe our school community to be about and trying to live the challenge of this is very difficult indeed. We are all human and all make mistakes. The lived reality, however, means that we must acknowledge our failings and continue our faith journey allowing those we meet to be touched by our presence at all times.

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE | St Anne’s Catholic Primary School wishes to advise you that, during the past week, we have been notified of positive cases of COVID-19 in our school community.
St Anne’s regularly consults with the Catholic Education Office and relevant authorities, and continues to follow the advice of Queensland Health regarding cleaning requirements.
As COVID-19 remains active in our community we ask you to continue to monitor your child’s/children’s health and if they develop any flu-like symptoms:
- Keep your child/children at home
- Seek a PCR or Rapid Antigen test where it is recommended and notify the school of positive results. Please be aware, a negative COVID test does not change the requirement to be symptom free to attend school.
- Follow the advice of Queensland Health
As we continue to navigate the pandemic, please remind your child/ren to:
- maintain good hand hygiene at all times
- cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of their elbow and dispose of tissues in the bin immediately.
- practice social distancing from others where possible
- wear masks when required
Please also inform us if any of our students contract COVID-19 as a result of being first placed in isolation.
We will continue to work closely with health authorities to keep our school community informed of any developments and advice. Thank you once again for your ongoing support.

HAPPY EASTER
Easter is almost with us. I find myself asking where has the term gone? For me it has been so long and yet so short! There is still much to do, but time waits for no one.
HAPPY EASTER | First term always see the celebration of Easter. I really enjoy the liturgies of this season of the church. They bring home to me the frailty of human life and the joys and suffering that are part and parcel of this existence.
But celebrating Easter without children (for me anyway!) would be a sad time. Their joys, their happiness, their understandings never fail to teach me something. No matter how small or big, children are buckets of wisdom. When posed with the following questions their answers startled me!
What is Easter about?
- New Life!
- Jesus dying on the cross!
- Easter eggs!
- Having fun with my family!
Why do you like Easter?
- Easter Eggs!
- The Easter Bunny!
- Chocolate!
- Jesus rose from the dead!
- Celebrating!
How do you know Jesus is with you?
- He loves us!
- He is in us!
- Because he died on the cross for us to have another life!
I would like to thank each of you personally for being part of our first term at St Anne's Catholic Primary School. This school is a wonderful place and is only like this because of the people who are this place - the staff, the parents, the children, and the parish. Even though Easter is over a fortnight away, this is our last newsletter for the term and I wish you and your family a happy, safe and Holy Easter!
School returns Tuesday 19 April 2022.
Bishop's Inservice Pupil Free Day This Friday
The Bishop's Inservice Pupil Free Day is This Friday. Students will finish the term on Thursday.

Student Protection News

Internet Safety
There are many apps and games available on devices that are not appropriate for students to be using on their own, unsupervised and or to have their own account.
In the past, the St Anne's leadership team have had to investigate complaints of inappropriate use of technology by students outside of school hours. These situations can be avoided if parents are actively supervising children on a device and do not allow their children to have accounts or access to the apps and games that are not suitable
In the event of inappropriate use, it needs to be reported to the app company immediately. It is not always a school responsibility to deal with inappropriate technology use outside school hours. The app companies have ways that people can report harassment and inappropriate behaviour.
Below is a link to the Carly Ryan Foundation where you will find fact sheets regarding the commonly used apps and also their age rating restriction. Parents and carers are encouraged to read through these and take the time to discuss this with your children. Further resources are available from the Carly Ryan Foundation at https://www.carlyryanfoundation.com/
The Good News

Sunday's Gospel Reflection
In the Gospel of Luke, we learn that the Pharisees and scribes are not happy with Jesus because he was hanging out with sinners. Their grumbling prompts Jesus to tell one of the most beloved stories of forgiveness in the Scriptures:
A man had two sons. The younger one became impatient, wanting his cut of the inheritance even while his father was still alive. After getting the money, he took off and squandered everything, living the high life. The older son stayed home by the father’s side. Left to tend pigs and even eat with them, the younger son saw the error of his ways.
He headed home to apologise and hoped his dad would hire him as an extra servant. Not only did his dad forgive him, but the son got a hero’s welcome, the best clothes and a grand feast. This did not go over too well with the other brother. He became angry and stomped off. But his dad went to him and let him know that he, too, was loved. The father coaxed him into joining the celebration for his brother who was dead and has come back to life, who was lost and is found. (Adapted from Luke 15:11-24)
God shows deep and constant love for us no matter what we do. God is the loving, compassionate father who reaches out to both the loyal son and the lost son.
As we continue our journey through Lent, let us remember:
- God sets his people free.
- Experience God’s goodness.
- God lets us start over.
- Forgive as God forgives.
- We can always come home.
