From The Principal
WHY JESUS IS BETTER THAN SANTA CLAUS...
Santa lives at the North Pole ... JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh ... JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year ... JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies ... JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited ... JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.
You have to wait in line to see Santa ... JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap ... JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?" ...
JESUS knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name,
He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly ... JESUS has a heart full of love
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ... JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry" ... JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."
Santa's little helpers make toys ... JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts,
repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but ... JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree ... JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.... The cross.
We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
On behalf of the staff at St Anne's Catholic Primary School I wish you a safe and Holy Christmas filled with love and family. May the peace of the Christ-child be with you throughout this break.

Across The Curriculum

Minilit & PAT Test Awards | Last week on assembly, we had the pleasure of congratulating a large group of students who had experienced academic success across a range of learning experiences. Some of our Year 2 students participated in a reading program called MiniLit, and these students are very proud of the fact that they have now reached the top of the program, completing 70 lessons! Some of our Year 1 students participated in their age appropriate MiniLit program, and we acknowledged their pleasing progress, too!
We also congratulated the top academic achievers in each classroom from Year 2-6, in our Pat Reading and PAT Mathematics assessments that were completed earlier in Term 4. (An explanation of these national assessment processes was outlined in previous newsletters.)
Looking at our school curriculum data, we are certainly trending in the right direction, and this is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff across the school, students and their parents and caregivers, and for this, I thank you.
It is important to keep our children reading over the Christmas break, and for us to keep reading to them. Please check out our local library over the holidays - there are often entertaining activities scheduled over the holidays, that are usually free or have a small fee to attend, that your children may enjoy!
Have a safe, relaxed and blessed Christmas season!
Mrs H.
The Good News
Sunday's Gospel Reflection - Luke 21:25-28, 34-36
Be ready for the second coming

This week’s gospel passage comes from a lengthy passage in the gospel of Luke in which Jesus speaks extensively about the future. It is a very different style of writing from the usual narrative, teaching and parable forms that make up most of the gospel. The style is an echo of the prophetic writings of the Old Testament. Compare this passage with this week’s first reading of other passages from the writings of the prophets.
The style is always rich in metaphor and symbol. There is a grandness about the style. We know, just from the use of language, that great things are afoot!
Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation. But it’s not just about anticipating Christmas.
Advent is about reminding ourselves that we have a job to do: preparing for the reign of God – in our lives and in our world.

Finance News
Term 4 Fees | The Term 4 school fees are now overdue. If you have not already paid in full and do not have a payment plan in place, please contact our Finance Officer, Sandy Vassallo to discuss options.
Library News
Outstanding Library Books | All school library borrowing has now finished for the year. Please make sure all outstanding library books are returned as soon as possible so stocktake can commence. If any books that a child borrowed aren't returned, it will be the parent's responsibility to pay for the cost of replacement, so please have a good look around both at home and in the classroom for any books that you may have missed.
Sports News

Ten Pin Bowling | On Saturday, Dylan Gill competed in his first tenpin bowling tournament. The Mackay tenpin bowling masters, consisting of 6 games in a row. This in itself was a challenge for him, as he has only ever bowled 3 games in a row.
Dylan's team partner didn't turn up. So he had to play alone. By game 4 his hand was hurting and he was getting tired, but he listened to the coaches and kept going with a smile on his face even when he was ready to quit.
He was a wonderful team player high fiving his opponents after each bowl and shaking hands at the end of every game
Dylan's determination and persistence paid off, as he finished in 2nd place overall. Well done Dylan.
Also......
Dylan and and his brother Bryce are also representing St Annes in the Queensland interschool challenge tenpin bowling tournament. Both boys are currently ranked within the top 5 positions for their age groups. With final results to be announced on the 10th of December.
End of Year Tuckshop Changes
As we are approaching the end of the year the tuckshop will be only doing a small number of specials due to reducing stock for the Christmas period. Over the coming weeks you may notice some items go out of stock & this means they will continue to be out of stock for the remainder of the term! We thank you for understanding! Don’t forget to order your tuckshop through Flexischools by 7:30am on tuckshop day or place cash and order details in a brown paper bag and send to school with your child.
The tuckshop will be closed for cleaning on the last day of school, Friday 3rd December. If you can help with cleaning, please contact Ingrid on 0448456599.

Newsletter Report By Anthony | To start I would like to say that all our grounds are tidy but if you find any rubbish you still need to pick it up to no matter what. Our behaviour has been pretty good, but we still need to follow the rules. We are nearing the end of the school year, but we should still respect our teachers.
