From The Principal
Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a great break and enjoyed time with your children. It was exciting to see the students as they came back to school - there was a lovely buzz in the air. This morning we celebrated the final part of the Easter story by enacting the resurrection. As you continue to journey through the Easter season, take time to notice the daily experiences of resurrection and new life. We can see and feel this resurrection in the budding promise of the growing cane, blossoming flowers, long green grass and the prospect of new babies being born into our STA family.
Our growing students all had big smiles on their faces as they went into classrooms and were full of excitement at seeing each other again, sharing stories and commencing new work.
Christ’s triumph over death, like the persistent rain, has washed away the old; our sins are forgiven and we are all given the opportunity to begin anew with fresh plans, enthusiasm and commitment to each other.
It’s going to be a HUGE term with many things ahead of us.
We are going to need peace, gratitude, empathy and mindfulness as we traverse this term.
Welcome back everyone!!!!!!

Introducing Johanna Drury

Hello Parents and Students of St Anne’s!
My name is Johanna Drury and I am a preservice teacher with the University of Southern Queensland. You may have seen me before, last year in term three I had the wonderful experience of working with Mrs Walsh in grade one. Now I am back again, this time working with Mrs Vernon in the Prep classroom! I am very excited to be working with the prep students, and to be part of their learning journey in their first year of primary school.
It is important to know that I am hearing impaired and wear a cochlear implant. I can hear quite well with my hearing device, and I am also a fluent lip reader. Having a teacher with a disability is a good opportunity for the students to understand diversity, to be emphatic towards those who may be different, and to make an effort to speak clearly. It’s an unusual yet rewarding experience that will add to their personal and social growth!
Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions. I look forward to getting to know the students’ families over the next four weeks.
Yours in education,
Johanna Drury.

The Good News
REFLECTION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE – by Lisa-Marie Calderone-Stewart
Jesus’ tomb was empty. It had even been cleaned up. The linen burial cloths were folded and rolled up neatly. Everything was left in order and taken care of. Jesus was clearly finished with this grave. No more of this ‘death business’ for him. He left it totally behind, and was fully alive, never to know the sufferings of death again.
Have you ever made a transition in life?
Did you ever take a step and know that a part of your former life was totally behind you?
What happened?
How did you feel?
Did you find yourself trying to take care of things or leave things in order in any way?
Obviously Mary, Peter and the other disciple were close friends with one another and with Jesus. It is easy to picture the three of them running to the tomb together to be sure of what actually happened.
Who are the Marys and Peters in your life?
Have you ever hurried to get to some important place?
Have you ever struggled with someone else to figure out what was really happening in an important situation that affected you or a friend of yours?
What happened and how did that affect your relationship?
No one expects the Resurrection, despite all Jesus had foretold about it. They expect Jesus to still be lying in the tomb. Even when they have seen the empty tomb, their first thought is that someone has stolen his body.
To celebrate Easter is to remember that Jesus still lives and walks among us. The tomb is empty; Jesus is alive!
If we believe, our sins are forgiven. Celebrate! Jesus lives! Alleluia! We rise again with Christ. The tomb is empty.
