REFLECTION FROM SR KYM HARRIS | I expect nearly everyone reading this would have some idea of what being healthy physically means for them. No, not the unrealistic ideas that are being presented to us from all sides but what would be a good ideal for your own self. You take into account your age, medical history and what you really want to do with your body. Doing a marathon is not something I want to do, but doing the Bluff Point Circuit again certainly is…and I have a fair idea of what I need to do to walk it again.
But what about your ideals for yourself as a person, a holy person, your best self before God, the people you love and the community you live in? These are tougher ideas to sort out for we need to ask ourselves what type of person do I really, realistically, want to be. I’ll never be the life of the party, but I will love to cook the goodies everyone enjoys and get my fulfillment that way. I’ll never be the person leading a rally but I can be in the background giving support, probably practical support. That is how God has made me be. But we need ‘lives of the party’, we need to people who take the public stand. We need all sorts and God has made all sorts.
This month the Church celebrates the lives of many saints, many different saints. If there is one place God shows the variety of creation it is the wildly different people we are. And each and every one of us has a call to holiness, a call to grace, a call to be a saint. If you don’t think that this applies to you, think, and more importantly imagine and think again. What good aspect of your character would you like to be known for? Then think and pray about it. Ask God to show you the small actions, the small practices you could start today to come to your best self, the person you and God wants you to be.
Loving God, in the wonder of creation you have made me, a glorious mystery. Give me your wise Spirit to show me how to grow into the wondrous loving person you desire me to be. I ask this in Jesus’ name confident that you will hear me.

Deadly Choices Bush Tukka Program
Last term Deadly Choices delivered a Healthy Tukka Program to First Nations students at St Anne's. Students were to identify healthy food choices and worked in their booklet with Mrs Zaro. We thank Mr Corbin Tass from Deadly Choices for visiting St Anne's and sharing his knowledge and time.
Students received a Deadly Choices shirt which was accepted with enthusiasm. Our First Nations Student Rep, Zan'eisha said that the program was important because it showed students different healthy food choices.

World Mission Month, Day for Daniel and World Teacher’s Day: Friday 31st October
This October, Catholic Mission and the wider Catholic community unite to celebrate World Mission Month, guided by the theme “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples.” It’s a time to reflect on our shared mission to bring hope, compassion, and justice to communities around the world.
By supporting missionaries in their vital work, we help create life-changing opportunities for children, families, and entire communities. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our sisters and brothers across the globe.
Mission Fair at St Anne’s
On Friday 31st October, St Anne’s will host its annual Mission Fair. The day will begin with a Prayer Assembly led by our Year 5 students, followed by a vibrant afternoon of fundraising fun:
- Students will run a variety of stalls, games, and activities after first lunch (various cost)
- Sausage on bread will be available for purchase at $3
- We’re seeking donations of cupcakes, lolly bags, jelly cups, and other treats for our cake and lolly stall
Please send donations in on Thursday 30th or Friday 31st October. All proceeds will go directly to the Catholic Mission.
Day for Daniel: Wear Red to Raise Awareness
Also on Friday 31st October, we will be recognising Day for Daniel, Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness event. This special day honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe and promotes the importance of child safety in our communities.
To show support, students are invited to wear a red t-shirt with their school shorts. The colour red symbolises Daniel’s legacy and our shared commitment to keeping children safe.
Let’s come together in hope, action, and awareness to make this day meaningful for all.
World Teacher’s Day
On Friday 31st October, we will also celebrate World Teachers’ Day. This is a special occasion to honour the incredible dedication, passion, and impact of our teachers.
At St Anne’s, we are deeply grateful for the educators who inspire, guide, and nurture our students every day. Their commitment to learning and care helps shape not only academic success but also the hearts and minds of future generations.
We invite families to join us in recognising and thanking our teachers. A kind word, a thoughtful note, or a simple smile can go a long way in showing appreciation.
Let’s come together to celebrate the wonderful teachers who make our school community so special!

NET Ministries Retreats – Year 5 and Year 6
Last week, we were blessed to welcome the National Evangelisation Team (NET Ministries) to St Anne’s, where they led engaging and faith-filled retreats for our Year 5 and Year 6 students.
- Year 5 explored the theme “Un-Titled Leadership”, discovering how leadership is not defined by titles or positions, but by the way we serve others with humility, courage and kindness.
- Year 6 focused on “You Be You”, a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing our unique gifts and identity, and living with confidence and authenticity.
The retreats offered students a chance to reflect, connect and grow in their faith journey. It was a joy to see them participate so openly and thoughtfully in the activities and discussions.
We thank NET Ministries for their inspiring presence and for helping our students deepen their understanding of leadership, identity and discipleship.

Year 5 Leadership Evening “Called to Lead with Faith and Grace”
On Monday evening, our Year 5 students and their families gathered for a special event titled “Called to Lead with Faith and Grace.” This inspiring evening focused on the values, responsibilities and opportunities that come with student leadership at St Anne’s.
It was truly heartening to see so many families join us in support of their children as they begin to prepare for leadership roles in 2026. Through reflection, discussion and shared experiences, students explored what it means to lead with integrity, compassion and courage.
We look forward to seeing our Year 5 students continue to grow in confidence and character as they take their next steps toward becoming school leaders.

Finance News
Important Information regarding how School fee payments show on the Parent Orbit App | With the introduction of the new Parent Orbit App, parents are now able to easily see where they are up to with their school fee payments. However, an important thing to note is that any payments that have been made in the past 2 weeks may not show in the App, as they need to be processed to your account after the payment is received and this is done in bulk every week or two. If it is longer than 2 weeks since you have made a payment and it is still not showing on the Orbit App, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams, for it to be looked into. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
Term 4 Fees | Term 4 school fees have now been issued. Please keep an eye out on your emails. If you do not have a payment plan in place and foresee an issue in paying in full by the due date of the 29th October, please make an appointment to see our Finance Officer.

Newsletter Report Week 1 By Ben | Firstly I would like to start off with , it is the last day of term. so that means you still have to be on your best behaviour and listen to your teacher. It is exciting the holidays are coming up but please remember to be respectful.
When sports captains are putting out the sports bins at lunch time make sure you wait for them to put out the sports bins, then you can get out the sports equipment. Don't take out any sports equipment before the bins are out. This is disrespectful to our sports captains.
I would like to thank Mrs Triffett for cleaning out the sports shed in her spare time. It is all clean and tidy, please be respectful and keep it nice and neat. Thank you Mrs Triffett, we appreciate your work.
I hope you all have a safe and happy holidays. I hope you get to spend some quality time with your family and friends.
Newsletter Report Week 2 By Bella | On the grid in the morning make sure you are sitting down and waiting quietly for the teachers. Also at lunchtime, when the bell rings make sure you sit quietly for the teacher on duty and wait for teacher instructions.
Make sure we use kind words to each other and be positive. With that being said make sure we play fairly at lunch time.
I would like to welcome back everyone from their holidays and hope you all had fun. Even though you might be tired and just come back from your holiday, you guys still need to follow the school rules.
Just a reminder about rubbish laying around our school, make sure you pick it up and put it in the bin so we have a tidy school.

Student Achievements
During the school holidays Cohen and Indie D competes at the QLD state titles which were held at the Mackay and District BMX track. There were over 800 riders whom travelled to the event all across Queensland. Both Cohen and Indie rode hard against a competitive field of riders and had a lot of fun.
On the weekend Cohen, along with 30 other fighters stepped into the ring for their first Muay Thai fight. Cohen had been training hard, up to 3 times a week to prepare for the event and he showed his skills off exceptionally well.
Congratulations Cohen & Indie on your achievements.

Year 2C
This term, 2C has embarked on a learning journey that teaches them about materials. Students were required to think about the properties of these materials and how they can be used for a purpose. This led us to making dog coats. They had to consider what they needed to keep them warm, how this would be held together and how it would fit on the dogs. The children are very proud of their creations and I have even had some photos of dogs using their coats at home. What a fantastic effort 2C.
