From The Principal
CELEBRATING FATHER’S DAY | This Father's Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and those who lovingly embrace fathering roles within our school community. Whether you're a dad, a mentor, a guardian, or a role model, your presence in a child’s life is a profound gift, one that shapes hearts, builds confidence, and nurtures resilience.
Your everyday acts of love, guidance, and encouragement may seem ordinary, but they leave extraordinary imprints, on hearts and minds. From the school drop-offs and bedtime stories to the quiet support during tough moments, your influence reaches far beyond what words can express.
We take this opportunity to honour and celebrate the men who show up with strength, gentleness, and unwavering commitment. You are seen. You are appreciated, and your role in the lives of children is irreplaceable.
Loving God,
We thank You for the fathers in our lives, those by birth, by choice, and by grace.
Bless them with wisdom, patience, and strength as they guide and nurture the children entrusted to them.
May they feel Your presence in moments of joy and in times of challenge.
Help them to lead with kindness, speak with love, and act with integrity.
Surround them with support and remind them that their efforts matter deeply.
We pray for those who grieve, those who long to be fathers, and those who carry the weight of fatherhood alone.
May Your peace and comfort be with them.
Amen.
From all of us at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, we wish you a joyful and meaningful Father's Day.
Our desire for a Father
My Mum taught as a catechist in the State primary school of the small town in which we lived. She loved the trusting looks she saw in the faces of the young children when she spoke of God as Father. It spoke to something deep within them. But it didn’t necessarily come from their personal experience. It was a small town and she knew some of these children came from troubled families. She understood the disconnect between their desire for a father and the reality of their lives. She knew it herself as her mother left her father before she was born and she only met him when she was 21 years old. It did not go well. But Mum always hungered for what she had missed and it took her years to confidently approach God as Father. That’s another story.
What she knew herself and sensed in these children is that we are made to be loved and formed by a father. Most of us experience this in the fathers we have. As children we can idolise our fathers. As we grow older, we see their flaws, and as we age and discover our own flaws, we recognise that love is complex and people can love and fail at the same time…because we can do that too. But we still have the hunger to be loved by the ‘perfect’ Father.
That is what God is to us. This hunger is something we need to sit with, listen to and allow God to love us as we most deeply want and need to be loved. It is a long process. But we can enter into it at any moment. We need to let go and rest in the love of God- our true Father.
Loving Father, let me accept all the love and care you desire for me. Let me rest in your love. I ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son and our brother.

Principal's Messages
Dear St Anne's Families,
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a member of our school community, a year one parent, Melanie Daniells. Please keep the Daniells family, particularly Blake, their son Jaxon and members of their extended family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
If you’d like to offer support, we’re putting together a care hamper for the family. Contributions are welcome in the form of:
- Cards or messages of comfort
- Food or grocery vouchers
- Ready-made meals or frozen dishes
- Monetary donations (to help with immediate needs)
We ask that you please bring your donations to the office so that year one class parents can distribute these to Blake and Jaxon. Your generosity will go a long way in helping this family feel surrounded by the love and care that our community is known for.

A huge congratulations and thank you to every student who participated in the ICAS testing. It's a wonderful achievement to challenge yourselves and embrace a new experience.
MONITORING LEARNING GROWTH
Last week, our teachers engaged in a valuable collaboration with colleagues from another Catholic school in Mackay. The primary focus of this initiative was to implement effective strategies to enhance student reading comprehension.
For the remainder of the term and into term four, our teachers will closely monitor student progress. They will reconvene with the Mackay school in Term Four to share successful outcomes and discuss further advancements in reading proficiency.

Father’s Day Prayer Celebration
This morning, our Year 3 students led the school in a beautiful prayer celebration in honour of Father’s Day. Their thoughtful reflections and heartfelt delivery made it a truly special moment for our community. A sincere thank you to Year 3 and Miss Sugars for your dedication and care in preparing such a meaningful tribute to the fathers and father figures in our lives.
We are also grateful to everyone who joined us for the Father’s Day breakfast barbecue. It was wonderful to see so many gathered together, sharing laughter and a delicious bacon and egg sandwich. Your presence helped make the morning feel warm, joyful and full of connection.
Thank you also to everyone who sent in a photo for the Father's Day slides that was shown at the prayer celebration. The students always love seeing the photo slides.
Finance News
Important Information regarding how School fee payments show on the Parent Orbit App | With the introduction of the new Parent Orbit App, parents are now able to easily see where they are up to with their school fee payments. However, an important thing to note is that any payments that have been made in the past 2 weeks may not show in the App, as they need to be processed to your account after the payment is received and this is done in bulk every week or two. If it is longer than 2 weeks since you have made a payment and it is still not showing on the Orbit App, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams, for it to be looked into. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
Term 3 Fees | Term 3 fees are now overdue. If you have not paid in full, and do not have a payment plan in place, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams, to discuss options.

Newsletter Report Week 7 By Axl | Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who dressed up as a book character, you all look great. Secondly, I would like to let the whole school know to put their hands up, and stop talking when the bell rings. There are still some students not doing this. I would like to thank the Mackay Cutters, Grade 10’s from Sarina State High School, and Sarina Headspace for taking time out to come and see Grade 6, and talk about what waits for us when we go to High School. This Sunday, St Anne’s are leading the mass at St Michaels, and it would be great to see some of you there.
Also, on Sunday at 4.05 pm, the North Qld Cowboys will be wearing the red and green colours of the Sarina Crocodiles, so make sure you tune in to watch the game.
