From The Principal
There once was a bunch of tiny frogs, who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants. The race began! Honestly no-one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.
Above the din statements such as the following were heard:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!! They will NEVER make it to the top."
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one, except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher. The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult! No one will make it!"
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up but ONE continued higher and higher and higher. This one wouldn't give up! At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top! THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?
A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had found the strength to reach the goal? It turned out that the winner was DEAF!
The wisdom of this story is never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic. They take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you. And above all be DEAF when people tell YOU that YOU cannot fulfill YOUR dreams! Always approach with an open misdset and think, "I can do this!"
Therefore strive to:
ALWAYS be... POSITIVE!
And be DEAF when people tell YOU that you can not fulfil YOUR dreams!
Always hear from within yourself:
“I can do this!”
And let others know that you believe in their abilities....
Imagine... the world watching and working together, rather than at odds, to achieve our goals. A world where at the minimum our school values and Catholic Social Teachings are lived - compassion, kindness, respect and responsibility.
Now that is a world I look forward to us all being part of; what is your part in this?

Student Protection Officers

All students have the right to feel safe all of the time and nothing is ever so awful that they can’t talk about it with someone. At our school, we are privileged to have many people who support students with personal issues that may relate to family or other areas of life.
Mr Oches, Mr Presley, Mrs H, and Mrs Dee all have special roles as Student Protection Officers, to support and protect children.
The Good News
LIMITS FOR PARENTS AT OUR EASTER LITURGY | This is just a reminder that you are invited to our Easter Liturgy and Stations of The Cross on Thursday 1 April commencing at 9.00am. This will retrace the footsteps Jesus took from Palm Sunday through to his death.
Each class will perform a ‘freeze’ to depict the Stations of The Cross they have been assigned. All classes will be participating in this. It is hoped that students will wear the style of clothing from the time of Jesus. Students may wear a plain white t-shirt with their school shorts if parents can't source the style of clothing ideas that were recently sent home via a note.
Due to COVID-19 and continuing impacts we will have to limit the number of adults attending the above liturgy. Please register your intention to attend by hitting this link and filling out the form. A copy of your responses will be sent to you. At this stage we have a hall limit of 72 therefore only parents (not grandparent, aunts, uncles or other extended family members) can attend.

5th Sunday of Lent - Year B
John 12:20-33
Jesus foretells of his death and resurrection
The Gospel reading continues the theme of the life-giving power of Jesus’ death. At this point, Jesus realises that the beginning of the end is upon him. In order to assure his disciples that his death will give rise to new life, Jesus uses the example of a grain of seed needing to be buried in the ground in order to sprout into new life. He also leaves us with a challenge: We who try to preserve our earthly life and are unwilling to die will lose our life; only those of us who give up our life will gain life.
At the same time, Jesus is weighed down by what is about to happen and says,
‘What shall I say:
Father, save me from this hour?
But it was for this very reason that I have come to this hour.
Father, glorify your name!’
A voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.’
Part of growing older is learning how to accept the experiences of loss in our lives, and to have hope in the experiences of growth and new life to come. Experiences of loss could be felt when moving to a new town, after a breakup of a close relationship, or after the death of a friend or relative.
Experiences of growth and new life could include meeting new friends in a new town, having a different but honest relationship with someone you care about, or feeling peacefulness in your heart with the memory of someone who has died.
What are some experiences of loss in your life that have been followed by experiences of growth or new life?
Jesus said the ones who serve would follow him and the ones who would lose their lives would live forever.
What do you think these words of Jesus are all about?
What does it mean to follow Jesus?
What do you think it means to lose life in order to life forever?

Blessings,
Stuart.

PROJECT COMPASSION - WEEK 5 OF LENT
HALIMA FROM BANGLADESH
Halima is raising two children under seven in a refugee camp in Bangladesh, while caring for her mother who has a disability. Widowed at just 21, Halima fled violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State in 2017, arriving at the camp with nothing.
Caritas Australia, through its partner, Caritas Bangladesh, helped Halima out with a shelter and cooking equipment so that she could feed her family. She participated in hygiene and sanitation training and took on the role of community trainer herself, organising the cleaning of washrooms, wells and toilets.
Halima’s training became all the more invaluable as the COVID-19 pandemic struck - when safe hygiene and preventative measures suddenly became lifesaving.
Halima is proud that she is able to earn a small income, while maintaining the health of her family and the cleanliness of the camp community. Her children are adapting to life in the camp and are now at school.
Halima aspired to ‘Be More’ for her family and for the community around her.
“My hope is that our children will be able to do a job, to live with pleasure, they will find their happiness - that will bring wellbeing for them,” Halima says.

General News
Regular attendance helps your child develop the skills needed to access the world of work and other
opportunities, learn the importance of punctuality and routine and make and keep friendships.
All absences from school must have a reason and be acknowledged by parents and caregivers.
Text messages to advise of absences are sent daily to parents from the school.
To advise of your child's absence, please only phone 4994 8285 or use parent lounge. Emails in the morning rush to teachers can easily be overlooked.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr Oches, Mr Presley or Mrs L Holmes.

Student Leadership
Leadership is a quality that all students of St Anne's Catholic Primary School are encouraged and supported to develop. These experiences ensure that students perceive themselves as leaders and have the opportunity and confidence to take on leadership roles and find their voice.

Newsletter Report By Anthony | We are already in week 8 and getting closer to the school holidays, which is exciting.
I have noticed some rough play in the playgrounds, especially in our younger grades. We must remember to treat others as we would like to be treated.
It is pleasing to see that the grounds are mostly clean and we need to keep up the good work.
It is good to see students listening to our teachers at lunch time.
