Community News
From The Principal
The recent acts of vandalism have been a difficult experience for our school community. Over the course of the two days, two classes were displaced, causing disruption to their learning environment; but they rose to the occasion and coped. Despite this challenge, I commend these students for their resilience and understanding; they coped well.
During this time, we were transparent with our students, providing honest information about the situation and creating a space for questions and concerns (obviously without emotion). Their maturity and composure in the face of adversity are a testament to the positive culture we foster and to your family values.
Thank you too to the many families who offered assistance with the aftermath – your support has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated. Appreciated too was the fact that staff began cleaning up on both days well before students turned up. We are blessed at St Anne’s to have such amazing parents and staff.
Heavenly Father,
In these challenging times, we turn to you seeking your guidance and strength. When the path ahead seems uncertain and the burdens feel heavy, be our light.
Grant us the wisdom to make sound decisions, courage to face adversity, and the resilience to overcome obstacles. Help us to find peace and serenity amidst the chaos, always mindful of your unwavering love and support.
May your grace surround us at St Anne’s, and we pray your light continues to illuminate our way.
Amen.

Celebrating Queensland's School Crossing Supervisors for 40 years of service
This year, Queensland’s School Crossing Supervisor Scheme celebrates 40 years of keeping kids safe as they travel to and from school.
We'd like to say a big thank you to our wonderful School Crossing Supervisors for everything you do for our students and school community! You do a great job keeping our students and other pedestrians safe as they cross the road in peak drop-off and pick-up times.
Why not say a big thank you the next time you see them on duty! You can also show your appreciation for School Crossing Supervisors by slowing down, following directions and being courteous while travelling in our school zone.
Did you know?
- The School Crossing Supervisor Scheme is operated by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
- There are more than 2000 school crossing supervisors who operate over 1300 crossings at more than 700 Queensland schools.
- There has not been a single fatality on a supervised crossing since the scheme started in 1984.

Interviews being conducted now.
Please contact the school office for further information or if any assistance is required.
It Is Not Too Late To Flu Vaccinate!
Influenza is on the rise. Currently 23% of flu cases are in school aged children. Current predictions suggest the peak in cases is still weeks away. It is not too late to vaccinate. Students and their families can access free flu vaccinations from pharmacies, general practices and council clinics. Please read the below letter from the Chief Health Officer.

WHICH ONE DOESN'T BELONG?
The goal for ‘Which One Doesn’t Belong?’ is to improve mathematical reasoning.
There can be more than one reason why one image, shape, number or object doesn’t belong — the focus is on explaining the reasoning. All answers are accepted as long as the reasoning is true. Look at the picture of the following numbers.
Which one out of the four numbers doesn’t belong?
How do you know this? Can you find more than one way of explaining this?

NAIDOC Day Activities
Last Thursday, our school came together to celebrate NAIDOC Day, a significant event that honours the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It was a vibrant morning filled with activities that helped our students connect with Indigenous culture and deepen their understanding of the importance of NAIDOC Week.
Throughout the morning, it was heart warming to see the enthusiasm and respect our students showed as they embraced the opportunity to learn about and celebrate Indigenous culture. NAIDOC Day at our school was not just an educational experience but a celebration of diversity and unity, reminding us all of the importance of acknowledging and honouring the First Nations peoples of Australia.
A highlight was the delicious curry that the students got to sample at lunch time that was made by Mrs Karlie Tatchell and served by Mrs W, Samara Hobson and Bella & Cheyenne Honess.
We extend our gratitude to the Indigenous community members and students from Sarina State High School who gave their time and shared their knowledge and stories with us, as well as Mrs Tatchell for organising such a meaningful day with the assistance of Mrs Zaro and Miss Turner. NAIDOC Day 2024 will surely be remembered as a highlight of the year!
Father’s Day Prayer Celebration, Assembly and morning tea
We are excited to invite all fathers and father-like role models to our Father’s Day Prayer Celebration, led by our wonderful 1B class, on Thursday, 29th August, at 9:00 AM in the school hall. This is a special occasion to honour the important men in our students’ lives and celebrate the love and guidance they provide.
As part of the celebration, we will be showcasing a slideshow presentation. We kindly ask families to email a photo of the student with their father or father figure to Ms. Moloney by Friday 23rd August to be included in this presentation.
Following the Prayer Celebration, we invite you to stay for a morning tea. Please bring a food plate to share as we come together in community and fellowship.
We look forward to celebrating this special day with you!

Finance News
Important Information regarding how School fee payments show on the Parent Orbit App | With the introduction of the new Parent Orbit App, parents are now able to easily see where they are up to with their school fee payments. However, an important thing to note is that any payments that have been made in the past 2 weeks may not show in the App, as they need to be processed to your account after the repayment is received and this is done in bulk every week or two. If it is longer than 2 weeks since you have made a payment and it is still not showing on the Orbit App, please contact the Finance Officer, Sandra Adams for it to be looked into. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.
