From The Principal
Dear Parents & Carers,
In a world increasingly dominated by technology, a heartwarming story reminds us of the enduring power of human connection. This tale of a father's experiences highlights the irreplaceable value of face-to-face interactions in our daily lives. From the simple act of banking to the warmth of local businesses, it underscores the importance of fostering relationships within our communities. Please take the time to read this and reflect upon your own lives and where human connections can be stronger.
THE STORY:
I spent an hour at the bank with my dad as he needed to transfer some money. Curious, I asked him, "Dad, why don't we set up your internet banking?"
"Why would I do that?" he asked.
"Well, then you wouldn't have to spend an hour here for simple transactions. You could even do your shopping online. It would make everything so much easier!" I was eager to introduce him to the convenience of online banking.
He responded, "If I do that, I wouldn't have to leave the house?"
"Exactly!" I said, excitedly explaining how even groceries can be delivered to the door and how Amazon has everything one might need.
His reply caught me off guard. He said, "Since I walked into this bank today, I've met four friends and had a nice chat with the staff, who all know me well by now. You know I'm alone most of the time, and this is the social interaction I enjoy. I like getting ready and coming to the bank. I have plenty of time, and I crave the human touch.
Two years ago, when I was sick, the fruit vendor I buy from came to visit me, sat by my bedside, and even shed a tear. When your mum fell on her morning walk a few days ago, the local grocer saw her, and immediately drove her home because he knows us. Would I get that kind of human connection if everything were online?
Why would I want everything delivered to my door and only interact with a screen? I like to know the people I deal with, not just see them as sellers. It creates bonds and relationships. Can Amazon deliver all of that?"
His words reminded me that technology isn't a replacement for real-life connections. It's important to spend time with people, not just with devices.

PRAYER:
Gracious God,
In a world often filled with noise and isolation, help us to deepen our connections with those we meet on a daily basis. Help us to cultivate empathy and understanding so that we may see others as you see them – with love and compassion.
May our words be filled with kindness and encouragement, building bridges of connection rather than walls of division.
In your loving embrace, help us to find the strength to reach out and connect with others in a meaningful way.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen

The Good News
From the Assistant Principal: Religious Education
Ms Georgia Moloney
Celebrating the Assumption of Mary
This week, we come together as a school community to celebrate the Assumption of Mary, one of the most significant feasts in the Catholic Church. The Assumption marks the moment when Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven. This solemnity is a Holy Day of Obligation, reminding us of the deep reverence we hold for Mary and her role in our faith.
On Friday, our Year 1 students will have the special honour of leading the prayer celebration at our school assembly. Their preparation and enthusiasm will surely bring a heartfelt touch to our gathering. We warmly invite all families to join us for this important occasion.
Additionally, our Year 3-6 students will be attending Mass on Thursday morning at 9:00 am at St Michael's Church. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to participate in the Eucharist and reflect on the significance of the Assumption in their spiritual lives.
We look forward to sharing these meaningful celebrations with you all as we honour Mary’s example of faith, hope, and love.
Introducing Our New Staff Charter
We are excited to share that our staff has recently drafted a Staff Charter that aligns with our school’s core values of responsibility, respect, compassion, and kindness. This Charter serves as a guide for how we, as a team, will work together to create a positive and supportive environment for our students and one another.
Our Staff Charter includes the following key commitments:
- PASSIONATE OWNERSHIP (Responsibility): We are consistently committed to building our capacity through learning, striving for excellence, and a shared commitment to our Catholic Identity.
- Healthy Relationships (Respect): We collaborate with others and consider the impact of our words and actions to ensure that interactions are respectful and constructive.
- WE CARE (Compassion): We show empathy and accept each other as we are without judgment, with Jesus as our guide.
- UNCONDITIONAL POSITIVE REGARD (Kindness): We recognize and seek to understand the needs of each person and celebrate our successes together.
This Charter reflects our dedication to upholding the school’s values in every aspect of our work, ensuring that our community thrives through mutual respect, support, and a shared commitment to excellence.
