From The Principal
THE COMPANION WE REALLY NEED | Companion is a lovely word. Coming from the Latin roots it means ‘with bread’. A companion is a person with whom we share the events of life, especially the ordinary daily events. When this happens over a length of time, even over a life time, we build up a depth of friendship that can have a profound influence in our lives. From such a friend we get comfort (meaning: with strength) and communion (meaning: with union).
This coming Sunday the church celebrates the Feast of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, the feast of the presence of Jesus in the Bread and the Wine of the Eucharist. He comes to us in this way as he desires to be our companion in life, desiring to share with us his divine life and being close to us in all the events of our lives. If Jesus had come with all the grandeur of God, we would not feel that we could come close to him with our joys, concerns and problems. He comes in this humble way that we might open our lives and our hearts to him. As we let him be our ‘companion’ in life, we will find that he offers us comfort and communion, both with God and with others. If the presence of Jesus is unfamiliar to you, you may wonder how you can do this. Simply begin by letting him know your concerns, speak simply from the heart. Then, most likely in the ordinary events of life, Jesus will come – maybe not in the way you expect – but he will come and be a companion to you.
Loving Father, you showed us the depth of your love in the person of Jesus and he continues to show that love in the Eucharist. Send us your Spirit that we may make Jesus the companion of our life. We ask this in his name confident that you will hear us.

Important Information for Year 5 Parents
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
I am writing to inform you of some important updates regarding the Liturgy Evening traditionally held during previous Year 5 camps.
As you may already be aware, Year 5 students are scheduled to attend their camp in Airlie Beach during Term 3. This change comes as a result of the closure of Action Challenge Camp.
Due to the relocation of the camp, it has become necessary for us to reconsider the arrangements for the Liturgy Evening, which was previously an integral part of the Year 5 camp experience. Recognizing the sentimental value, significance, and importance of this occasion, the school Leadership Team is actively exploring suitable alternative arrangements.
Rest assured, we are committed to ensuring that this event maintains its special nature and continues to foster the important bond between parents and our school community. We will communicate further details and information regarding the revised plans for the Liturgy Evening in due course.
Should you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.

Mathematics - Splat!
Splats are a great interactive number talk that can be used across a wide range of year levels.
The goal is to work on subitizing & counting skills, parts of a whole and to encourage mathematical conversation.
Time to figure out the missing part covered by the splat... don't forget to explain your thinking!
How do you know?
How might you draw the number underneath the splat?

National Reconciliation Week Prayer Celebration and Assembly
NRW starts on the 27th May and finishes on the 3rd June every year. This date reflects two significant events in the reconciliation journey. The 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo decision.
Please join us at 9am on Thursday 30th May as Year 6 leads us in a Prayer Celebration for National Reconciliation Week.
The usual Assembly will follow the Prayer Celebration.
St Anne’s Monthly Family Mass
Mrs Gill and Ms Moloney have been working together to enhance the Religious Life of the School.
On the 4th Sunday of each month, St Anne’s Catholic Primary School students and teachers will be working with St Michael’s Church to assist during 9am Sunday Mass.
Each class has been allocated a Mass, and we will be asking for student volunteers to assist with different aspects within that Mass. Students will be given help in the lead up to help them prepare for their reading.
All families are invited to join the Mass and stay after for a shared morning tea. More information will be sent home to classes leading up to their rostered Mass.
To help with planning please see the table below with dates of when your child’s class is rostered for this year.
It would be really lovely to see families attending our Family Mass to strengthen the union between the St Anne’s and St Michael’s communities. Looking forward to seeing you there and having a chat after.

Athletics Carnival
Good Afternoon Families,
Our Athletics carnival is fast approaching. Please see the following reminders below for this Friday.
- All students are to meet at the Sarina Athletics Grounds, beside Sarina Junior Rugby League grounds from 8:40am.
Our P-2 classes will participate in both track and modified field events until approximately 12:40pm where they will then return to school. As Prep to year 2 will be back at school for second lunch they must bring a packed 2nd lunch to eat, as there is no tuckshop at school.
All other grades continue until approximately 2-2:30pm. Bus children are required to get off the bus at Sarina State School, Ms Moloney will collect students and walk them to the Sarina Athletics fields.
All children returning to school can be collected in the pick up line or buses as usual.
8:40am prompt start with roll call then straight into 800m for 9,10,11 & 12 year olds. Junior students will be given age/house wristbands before leaving their house tents.
Students may wear blue or yellow dress up, sun safe clothing and zinc.
Footwear must be worn in all events.
Parents must stay behind the safety markers in the senior field events and please walk around the finish line at the end of the running track.
Parent help is needed at field events, race line judging and in the canteen! You are not required to be in that role all day, every little bit helps.
All students must sit in their house tents with their Age Group Teacher. Students are not allowed to leave the tents to sit with families under the trees. Families are welcome to come to the house tents to see their children and celebrate their success.
If you are leaving early with your child, please see Mr Oches to sign out.
At St Anne's, we prides ourselves on inclusivity and celebrating differences. Please encourage your child to 'have a go' and promote the attitude of great sportsmanship. Our Staff always have the best interests of your children at heart, we are all doing our best too!
Please see the attached document written by Sarina School Sports Committee outlining benchmarks for selection to trial at Sarina District, which is on the 14th of June at the Sarina Athletics grounds. Please note: 10, 11 & 12 year old students are only eligible for nomination.
