From The Principal
Easter is almost with us, and I find myself asking where has the term gone? For me it has been so long and yet so short! There's still so much to get done, but as they say, time waits for no one.
First term always coincides with Easter, and I always cherish the liturgies of this season. They remind me of the delicate nature of human life, and the joys and sorrows that are woven into our existence.
However, celebrating Easter without children (at least for me!) wouldn't be the same. Their innocent joy, genuine happiness, and unique perspectives always teach me something new. It's a reminder that children, no matter their age, hold a wealth of wisdom. Take some extra time to appreciate them this Holy season!
May the peace and hope of the risen Christ fill your hearts this Easter.

Principal's Messages
WORKING BEE THANK YOU | Many thanks to the following parents who offered their time in assisting us to move items from the prep classrooms in readiness for our refurbishment which will commence next week. Your support was appreciated, and we are grateful for your gift of time – thank you to Dr January Sarich, Mr Brendan Walsh, Mrs Elyshia Bailey & Mrs Dimity Rozinski
For the duration of the refurb, we will not have access to the site. We will advise students that they can’t enter the worksite nor engage with the workers, and we ask that parents reinforce this important expectation.
TERM TWO DATES | School resumes for Term 2 on Monday the 15th of April. It is a ten week long term, concluding on Friday the 21st of June.
SUCCESSES | We love to hear about our sporting and cultural superstars and encourage parents to email us student successes so that we too can celebrate with them. Please email these successes for inclusion in the newsletter to sas@rok.catholic.edu.au
ENROLMENTS 2025 | Prep enrolment details for 2025 are NOW required from our existing families. If you have a child due to commence Prep next year - born between July 1 2019 and June 30 2020 – you are asked to complete an ONLINE enrolment form available from the school website by the end of the holidays. It is essential that we have our current families accounted for, so as to determine how many positions may be offered to new families seeking enrolment. If you have any queries or concerns with regards to this process, please contact the office. ALL ENROLMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE. Once enrolment applications have been received and processed by our Administration staff, you will be notified of an interview time next term.
SCHOOL FEES – OVERDUE | Term one school fees are now overdue. We would like to thank those families who have paid their account. However, if you have not paid, it would be appreciated if you could do so immediately. (This does not apply to those families who have a Direct Debit authority/payment plan in place). If you have not set up a direct debit authority with us and wish to do so, or if you are experiencing difficulties, please contact the Finance Office immediately.

Last week we celebrated Harmony Day, with the moto "Everyone Belongs".

ESTI MYSTERY
An ESTI mystery is a fantastic way to engage students at the beginning of the lesson.
Each image invites students to wonder what number is represented by the image. As you work through each Esti-Mystery, clues will appear that will allow the students to use math concepts to narrow the set of possibilities to a small set of numbers.
Have a chat with your child and discuss the possible answers to the below ESTI Mystery.

Don't forget to discuss your answer.
Drumroll please - The number of objects is: 32 & 64.
The Good News
From the Assistant Principal: Religious Education
Ms Georgia Moloney
This year, we shared with you the story of three inspiring women from across the globe, who overcame challenges to complete their education, access water and find secure employment. With the support of compassionate people like you, they are now forging a path to a better future for their families and their communities.
Ronita from the Philippines has now graduated high school and secured a job at a call centre. This job was only possible because of a certificate she gained from completing her studies.
Leaia and her family now have a water tank at their home in Samoa. She and her family now have a steady supply of clean drinking water. Next year, they will also have a toilet built, with the support of Caritas Samoa, which will further improve their health and living conditions.
Memory completed her vocational training course in carpentry and joinery. After completing a work contract at one of the largest electrical companies in Malawi, Memory now plans to return to her village and provide carpentry services to people in her community.
It’s through the generosity of people like you that we can continue to support people like Ronita, Leaia and Memory.
There is still time to donate! Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow, for all future generations.
You can donate through Project Compassion donation boxes, online by visiting caritas.org.au/project-compassion or by calling 1800 024 413.
Sports News
- On Tuesday in week 8, we held our School Cross Country. All students in years 4, 5 & 6 participated. The 10 year old boys and girls ran first, completing 2 laps (2km) and then the 11 and 12 year old students ran 3 laps (3km). All students tried their best; it was wonderful to see! It was also wonderful to witness lots of parents and caregivers who came to support their children. A massive thank you to our parent helpers, who helped the day run smoothly and assisted with setting up the track. Thank you, Dr January Sarich, Victoria & John Borg, Sonja Renehan and Ally Grech. Thank you also to the Teachers and Teacher-Aides who assisted with timing and marking of arms.
- Last Friday the Sarina District Cross Country took place at the Sarina Golf Club. Thank you to Miss Rice and Mrs Maikler who accompanied the top place getters from our School Cross Country to this event. A special congratulations to Rylan B & Payton H who both came 3rd in their 10 year old races, what a sensational effort! They will attend Mackay District Cross Country next term.
- Well done to all students who have tried out for various Sarina District sports teams throughout the term. We thank parents for their support in these events and acknowledge students for the courage they show in trying out for district teams. These teams are comprised of students, who possess a high level of skill in the chosen sport, from schools all across our district so competition is strong!
- A special “thank you” to Axl and Xander Budby-Johns for donating a bag of footballs to our school for lunchtime play use. I’m sure these footballs will get a good work out!

Newsletter Report By Dustan | I have seen some rubbish around the lunch area on the floor so make sure you pick up your rubbish and hand it to the teacher with the bin bag.
I have also noticed that we are getting close to getting them Zooper Doopers. So, make sure you keep up the good work, so we get them.
Good job to all those kids that are keeping their hats on even though it is starting to cool down, the sun can still burn you!
Lastly, I have seen many people walking around and talking after Mr. Oches has said to wait silently for your teachers. So be Good and have a nice day.

Project Kindness - Yr 5
Grade 5 has launched an inspiring initiative – the Kindness Project! With the aim of spreading joy and smiles throughout our school community, our students are embarking on a mission of compassion. Through small yet meaningful acts like offering encouragement, lending a helping hand, and sharing heartfelt notes, they're making a big difference. Let's join them in cultivating a culture of kindness that brightens our days and lifts our spirits!
This term the 5R class created a project. Project kindness. It was created so that the year 5 students can become nicer people! Every time we are kind and a teacher or student notice and they report back to Miss Rice, Mrs W or Mrs Hazel they may choose to put a point up on our kindness poster. Our first week we said hello and asked how people's days had been and what we could do to make it even better! The second one was that we did positive affirmations on a yellow or blank piece of paper and handed them out and displayed them across the school. Finally, we have been making friendship bracelets! In this project I have learned that people can be nicer than they seem and even little acts of kindness can change people’s days. - Khloe S
This term in grade 5 we have been doing a kindness project. We can be kind by saying 'how has your day been' and 'what can I do to make it a better day', making friendship bracelets, doing kind actions, saying kind words, making kindness cards. People have to report back to Miss Rice or to see that we are being kind and she has spy teachers to spy on 5R to see if we are being kind. In this project I have learned it can be really easy to brighten up someone's day with a small action. - Addison W
In 5R we are doing project kindness. We have to be very kind not only to others but to ourselves. We learned about affirmations and use them to make people smile. - Bella B
As we witness the positive impact of Grade 5's efforts, let's also take a moment to reflect on the profound influence of kindness in our daily lives. Whether it's a smile exchange in the hallway or a supportive word during a challenging moment, each act of kindness contributes to a sense of belonging and connection within our community.
