T1 W3 Newsletter 2024
From The Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
As we enter February, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere delight with the positive start to the school year! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity, but most importantly, a time for our students to adjust, reconnect, and begin their learning journeys anew.
From the very beginning, we knew this year would be crucial in establishing a strong foundation for both academic and emotional development. As such, we placed a significant emphasis on strategic planning, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
The positive results are already evident! Our students are settling into their routines beautifully, demonstrating a growing sense of community and engagement. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our incredible staff, who have gone above and beyond to create well-organised classrooms with clear expectations and predictable routines. This foundation of stability is paramount for fostering a trauma-informed learning environment, where students feel safe to express themselves, take risks, and learn without fear.
While we celebrate these early successes, we understand that the journey is ongoing. We remain, as always, committed to ongoing professional development for our staff, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to implement trauma-informed practices effectively. We will also continue to collaborate with you, our valued partners, to create a truly collaborative learning environment.
Here are a few highlights from the past few weeks that exemplify the positive momentum we're experiencing:
- Increased student engagement: We've observed a noticeable increase in student participation in classroom activities and discussions, demonstrating a growing sense of belonging and comfort.
- Positive staff-student relationships: Our dedicated staff members have built strong connections with their students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.
- Implementation of trauma-informed strategies: We are seeing early signs of success with our trauma-informed approach, with students exhibiting greater emotional regulation and resilience.
As we move forward, we remain committed to providing our students with the exceptional education they deserve. We are confident that this foundation of collaboration, positive relationships, and strategic planning will pave the way for an enriching and successful academic year.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

THANK YOU | St Anne's Catholic Primary School is thrilled to kick off this week with physical activity, thanks to the incredible generosity of the Sarina Saints Football Club and the Gill family!
We are deeply grateful for the donation of goal posts, making it possible for our students to enjoy the beloved game of football with renewed enthusiasm. The Sarina Saints' commitment and support to our school through this kind deed goes above and beyond, and we are truly touched by their generosity.
But the story doesn't end there! The Gill family's dedication to community and their passion for sportsmanship ensured the goal posts were brought to life with an incredible renovation. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Sarina Saints and the Gill family, St. Anne's now boasts goal posts that will undoubtedly inspire countless games, goals, and cheers in the years to come. This generous gift not only enhances our school grounds but also promotes the importance of physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.

The Good News
Shrove Tuesday- Pancake Day 13th February
Shrove Tuesday is the last Tuesday before Lent begins. In the past there were lots of foods that Christians would not eat during Lent. These included meat, fish, eggs, fats and milky foods. So that no food was wasted, families would have a feast on Shrove Tuesday to use up all the foods that wouldn’t keep until the end of the 40 days of Lent. Pancakes were a good way of using up these ingredients.
At St Anne’s we will be hosting a Pancake Day morning.
Please join us from 8am Tuesday 13th February for Shrove Tuesday.
Pancakes will be available for a gold coin donation from the tuckshop.
Ms Moloney is seeking parent and staff volunteers to assist with the cooking of pancakes from 7.30am. Please get in touch if you are able to help with cooking georgia_moloney@rok.catholic.edu.au
Ash Wednesday 14th February
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter. During Lent christians are called to be closer to God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which is talking and listening to God, giving up things that take us away from God and giving money, even the smallest amount, to help those in need.
The students and staff at St Anne’s will be attending a Prayer Celebration and receiving the Ashes on Wednesday 14th February in the Hall (time to be confirmed). Parents and families are warmly welcome to attend our Ash Wednesday Prayer Celebration.
